Our History. Our Legacy. Our Family.

Lawler Specialties, Inc. (doing business as Lawler Building Systems) is proudly located just outside Montevallo, Alabama, at 7027 Highway 25 in Shelby County. The company was founded in 1948 by Bill Lawler, after his service in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Shortly after, he was joined by his father, William Lister Lawler, and together they established a small welding and repair shop. Over time, their operations expanded to include the manufacturing of go-karts, animal caskets, laying cages, and numerous other products.

In 1978, Bill’s son Phil and daughter-in-law Jackie took the reins of the family business, further developing it into a full-service steel warehouse and fabrication facility. By 1990, Lawler Specialties had become a licensed Alabama General Contractor and began focusing on the sale and erection of pre-engineered metal buildings—now the core of the company’s operations.

In 2012, Lance Edwards, son-in-law of Phil and Jackie, joined the company, continuing the Lawler family legacy of delivering honest, dependable service and high-quality workmanship to the community.

As we look to the future, our goal is for Lawler Specialties, Inc. to continue serving our customers for another 77 years—by the grace of God.
